Hi!In russian and belarusian translation the term “community garden” no exists. Is term a park, garden near living, because we not private property on earth- all earth is property of state. In Minsk near 40% of all square under road and one our teacher say that “are cars living in the city” :) Now day Minsk is very green city, but it is idea of soviet architects of 1940-80 about Minsk as urban-park, green-town demolished historical architecture in Minsk and demolishing now and transformed city in the town without history and heritage. We needs in other conceptions of green town. now very popular new term “agrotown” (agricultural town). The first meaning is small town or village with urban structure (pipework, furniture, ect) and complex of farms. But I have vision as town in district with strong ecological idea and without urban structure. Possible is other conception? or it's populistic term only our president? thanks :) duncan, Thursday, 5. hi zmitsertheres a new feature by the group im working with that goes into more detail. have a look at the cork gardens belfast gardens. the term community is used at it is an initiave to create a shared space for the community that are using it now and the community we hope to be using it as it grows, that being the people who live adjacant, the people from dolphin house community, the people who use the library across the canal, us (people interested in turning unused space into space for food and people doing eco action). the garden is where we learn from each other, share skills, share stories and enjoy the simple life. hope this helps, id like to know more about the gardens and eco initiaves in minsk today and their history, can you add some links about this thanks for your input dunk duncan, Friday, 6. i came across a very good example of community garden and related issues from san francisco, quick report with links of it here you can listen to interviews with the urban farmers on the radio links, very informative discussions...."Initially formed to oppose Bio 2004 (the world's largest biotechnology and pharmaceutical conference held at San Francisco CA in 2004), RECLAIM THE COMMONS has quickly grown from a single mobilization into an ongoing commitment to teach and demonstrate sustainable, life-affirming alternatives to biotechnology and corporate power in general: organic food, community gardens, water reclamation, urban transformation, a gift economy, and so much more...." ![]() and heres info about CPULs (Continuous Productive Urban Landscapes) Designing Urban Agriculture for Sustainable Cities zmitser, Saturday, 7. The book probably good, it will be necessary to offer it for faculty, especially at us now it will be given more attention to small towns. Work on reconstruction of small towns is a real chance during study to have good practice it is the concept of training of our new dean. The faculty now conducts 4-5 projects, and quantity of administrations of small towns in rural areas will increase which ask faculty to develop the project of reconstruction.Tell about what procedure (rules) of creation of a garden at you in Ireland, whether it is necessary to do the project and to coordinate with someone, whether the license for designing of a garden is necessary. I have understood, that you have developed the project-concept of gardening of Dublin and now with the help of public initiatives start to create green gardens. zm duncan, Sunday, 8. May 2005, 14:02
![]() from the net to the gardens, to the streets. full page article in todays sunday times review and comments in response on indymedia ireland ARMED with saplings and spades, they strike under cover of dark. Anarchists are ditching street protests for flower power, turning disused city plots into blooming gardens. Some of the group behind the Reclaim the Streets demonstrations have adopted "guerilla gardening" as the latest tactic in their campaign to take back public spaces for the community. so begins full page article in todays sunday times.. article gist= under cover of darkness anarchists take over spaces to make gardens reality= went to garden in evening after work to suit people, have talked with and given information to neighbours around. on day of grassroots workshop we met with and talked with people in neighbouring garden who have been gardenin on canal banks for over 3 years now. article did not mention the tree walk, giving out 100+ native irish trees to communities around canal banks; sheriff st, east wall, maple house, synge street, finglas...... while some call themselves anarchists, many of the people gardening dont see themselves as anarchists. Perhaps this is more of what we got just over a year ago, with the mainstream papers puting fear into the hearts of the irish public using the scary A word to describe generally those working for global justice and a more sustainable world. its a good article and highlights positively what we are doing it also outlines the delicate issue of ownership that we are currently exploring ourselves 'these are positive activities where peole are attempting to improve the urban environment" said claire it finishes mentioning tour vision for a greenway for the city and previous action in the 70's done by new york's guerilla gardeners last years report on biased media spin in lead up to mayday: Irish media not interested in self-reflection? comment this story:
