architectural parameters vs 'flow'

In music composition you may operate with certain parameters such as density, pitch / frequency, texture, duration, transparency, opacity, collision, collapse, intensity, flow/movement, rhythm, volume, timbre - dynamics - contents of a spatial narration.

Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec showed some examples in Ljubljana (some stimulating spatial experience/awareness/appearance). For instance we heard sound/noise, simultaneously followed by 2D transcriptions of some parameters.

To make music you either work directly with these parameters, graphically, as in electronic generation of sound, or more indirectly, as in any manipulation of some musical 'sketch' / notation.

Architecture operates with similar parameters, at least in architectural description of projects / buildings, often with intuitively based transcriptions, from space/drawing to text. For instance: We talk about 'flow' without communicating the character of it. Transcriptions through parameters may assist this communication, and even make it possible to generate architectural space from transcriptions - in the first place.

Anyone using parameters like this?

user icons

okay, here we go:

it's not a high end solution but it will work.

User-Icon upload:

For helping others to remember your face, you may now upload an user-icon which will be shown right next to your postings.

for doing so you need to

  • have a picture
  • resize it to exactly 40px by 40px
  • save it in .gif format
  • using your exact username (case-sensitive!)
  • upload it by clicking here
you don't need to enter an image name in the form if it doesn't contain any voids
otherwise use your username (without '.gif')

If somebody else than you uploaded already a picture using your username please send me a brief message and i'll fix it!

ps: there is still a problem to be solved: if an user doesnt upload an icon it will display the broken img/link symbol. any sugestions how to hide (replace) it?

HISTORY

I just wanted to put an very old File into the trashbin but found inside an very old, yellow paper. It was the invitation to the EASA in 1984 Aarhus. ;any thoughts came up to my mind and indeed, it was one of the very higlights of my intire time as a student. Just for fun, I put these ancient letters into the google-machine and oh wonder: It's still going on ! I don't belive it,- they are still living... I'm so surprised because I never ever heard about EASA after it took place in Berlin in 1988, maybe because I finished my studdies. Hello to all the architecht-students in europe and a special Hello to those who had been a student, once uppon a time ... Chris Krafft from Westfalia (Middle-Europe)

Lj photo workshop

hi everybody, about the photo-ws of arne hodalic i wanted to ask on this way, if participants perhaps can be informed about some statistics. how many are we/ how many gave material to select from, and then, how many pictures did anja recieve all together, so, was it an success until now , the whole thing? so please organizers, keep us up to date...

another reason to post that here is: i asked anja to get out, weather arne hodalic could perhaps give me some critics about the pix i did for the ws. some others of u might be interessted in that also, so my suggestion is, do to it perhaps here on the weblog, so everybody could learn something from the critics on everybodys pictures aswell... what do u think?

yours jost/nc/berlin

hello paradizer

nice to hear from you. have you already asked for internet connections? maybe i've missed it... ;-) and how do you want to reach the people who don't visit the site because it's too "hightech" for their connection? you might talk to "well connected" people only...

sorry for not making a proposal how to solve the problem. no idea. should have been a topic for the incm. keep trying this way and let's keep it in mind for the next meeting. if you don't change the site before.

what about argentina?
