Ecotopia question

Dear Julia, Javier, Tamara, Miroslava, Natasha, Alexander, Irina,

This is great that the co-ordination meeting will take place in Kyiv already tommorow, on Tuesday, 10th June. I hope, communication sufferings of Green Dossier will come to the end soon!

At this meeting SVIT will be represented by its general co-ordinator Julia Myasyscheva and Alexander Bagin, head of SVIT member group from Donetsk region, town Gorlivka. Julia made up a nice list of issues for discusson. Here just to reiterate issues, which SVIT would need to know as soon as possible:

1.How much participants, except for prep.team, could be sent by SVIT? 2.What would be daily rate for a participant? Usually, when we invite volunteers for camps they do not pay for meals and accommodation. For this reason SVIT would need to solve this problem for all volunteers recruted through SVIT (Ukrainian and foreign). Would be great if volunteers recruted through SVIT could have some reduction. 3. Communication in the prep.team: This year SVIT organises three camps apart from Ecotopia. All interetsted volunteers send their applications to the special mailing list. Besides, SVIT has a specially dedicated placement officer Olga Kryvenko (SVIT member group from Kryvyi Rig, svit_info@mg.dp.ua)who together with the general co-ordinator shall deal with issues like putting people in special camps, facilitate contacts between volunteers and camp host, logistics and invitations. SUGESTION, maybe reasonable to use the existing SVIT placement list for all communications on Ecotopia preparation. Or, to think on the creation a new one? The most important is that the list will create a space for discussion for all people, involved in preparation of Ecotopia in Ukraine. As far as I understand, the prep team is located in different places (like Kyiv, Artemivs'k, Gorlivka, Kryvyi Rig, others?)

Wish you a very nice meeting.

With all good wishes, Olga Malakhova

P.S.: I plan to be in Kyiv this Friday, on 13th of June. Maybe to have a quick chat? Should I call you?

-- Best regards, Olga mailto:molga@mg.dp.ua

EASA is to become a network.

MM interview with Don foresta (involved with www.mmmarcel.org - MARCEL network)

MM: At the end, any message or final thought you have for EASA people?

DF: I think that the thing that makes sense of EASA is to become a network. And not just to meet once a year, but to come up with some kind of a sustainable program, during the course of the year, and the best and easiest way to do that is just to go network, and make sure that the participants just don’t all disappear, and to find some way of staying in touch and working together. But it has to be more than e-mail. It really has to be an extension of visual space and a high bandwidth network permits that. It would make a perfect sense to me to see this kind of organization move into that direction. So, that becomes, not just the summer workshop, but nearly a whole year workshop. And then, the summer is the chance for people to actually meet physically, that’s essential. When you meet physically then you can go work on the network. That, probably, would be a good goal.

supernova (more)

Hello! Since a couple of weeks I'm working for a non-profit organization SUPERNOVa (created in 1999). It aims at offering a platform to a not well-known group of young Belgian architects to inform about their activities. Supernova created a web site, where young architects can present their work or their web site on. In Belgium the platform works really well, so we aim to enlarge it to an European scale with the help of the ideas and the contacts of the Easa national contacts.

The first years after graduating, architects are rarely remarked by the outside world. Their work does not get a chance in public discussions about contemporary architecture and their projects do not get a lot of attention from the architectural world, the public and the media. A platform that highlights the unknown and unlisted work or work in progress of young architects, lacks. We may expect, though, that this generation will educate itself and will soon influence the architectural landscape. Therefore it seems necessary to accent this generation, to draw the attention of the media and to give them a forum by which they can promote themselves.

An overview of the work of young architects will add other accents to and will undoubtedly enlarge the portrayal of architecture that nowadays rules. At the same time such an overview will stimulate a debate about contemporary, up-to-date architecture. To have a really fundamental debate, it is necessary that young architects can participate in the forming of a vision on architecture and that their work is a subject of discussion.

And therefore we need your help!

We would like to get in touch with a lot of young architects or architect students who have already at their disposal a web site, and who are interested in being part of supernova. If you are an artist, a designer, a member of an institute or an organization and you want to be linked to the SUPERNOVa web site, please feel free to fill in the application form you can find at www.supernova.be

subscribe

If you are an architect or an urban planner who has a web site (or who is planning to make one) and you want to become a node in the SUPERNOVa cloud, please feel free to fill in the same application form on the site.

We also would like to get in touch with your schools and universities who can connect us with other already graduated students. Therefore you can contact us at
