More than 4,000 clubbers danced through the rush hour at Victoria station in Britain's biggest flash mob stunt. Revellers responded to e-bulletins urging them to "dance like you've never danced before" at 6.53pm. There were knowing looks and giggles among the casually dressed crowd that gathered from 6.30pm, wearing earphones. A deafening 10-second countdown startled station staff and commuters before the concourse erupted in whoops and cheers. MP3 players and iPods emerged and the crowd danced wildly to their soundtracks in silence - for two hours. University of London student Lucy Dent, 20, was among the flash mobbers. She said: "It was my first flash mob and I'm hooked. I've been dancing non-stop since we began. "I didn't even notice the commuters. When you get into the dancing you're oblivious to them and forget you're at a railway station." Chris Gale, 39, brought his daughter Sophia, three, and son Jacob, six. Mr Gale, a property entrepreneur from Bromley, said: "The children were a bit bewildered at first but then had fantastic fun. Some of the commuters are only interested in their trains and had to weave round us to the platforms. But most of them stood and stared, finding it hugely entertaining - and some even joined in. "I saw the straightestlooking guy in a suit with his briefcase doing the freakiest dance moves." Last night's flash mob ended when four vanloads of police dispersed the dancers. The event was staged by clubbing website mobileclubbing.com. Invitation emails and texts went out a week in advance. One commuter failed to see the funny side: "I was trying to get my train home but the whole concourse was filled with students dancing and I couldn't get through. The last thing I wanted after a hard day at work was to miss my train because of the idiots." www.smartmobs.com/book the acropolis anyone? full story...

Hey guys! To distract you a bit from thinking about the summer, I want to do a bit of shameless pimping for the Europan competition... If you are not familiar, Europan is a comeptition for young architects which has given opportunities and fame to many of the famous architecture names we know today. This year, we are especially excited about Europan Slovenia - the site is in Ljubljana, the capitol, and represents an extension of the city centre. It's 80ha for urban design and up to 4 project sites to choose from. The city is really hoping for some fresh international thinking, so if any of you are looking to do a competition - take a look at www.europan.si. Registration deadline is in May, and the only requirement is that one of the team has to be an accredited architect. You can register through www.europan-europe.com. Cheers, b. full story...

Guys, the easa007:quota_list is based on the model proposed by the easa_guide, which was also used by previous organizers [ch005, hu006]. in order to provide all of us with an efficient, productive, wonderful, rich easa_expierence we propose an easa of 300 people. community: [number of schools+students in each country] the community factor is modified according to the incm006, moscow. every nc is responsible for the given data. even the absent ncs have been asked to provide us with that information. activity: following exactly the easa_guide. today we received an e-mail from ivan[cr], who proposed interesting changes in calculating quota. it is our desicion to follow the guidelines of incm006. further changes or ideas can be discussed within the hub or during incm007. our proposals:
*you can find detailed quota_list on www.easa007.gr cheers full story...
dear organizers and easa community! as we can all see the quota has really become an issue :) we feel that there are some things very wrong, and hopefully there's still time to make them work. first of all, we don't think that there was a consensus reached, and not even a disscussion held, about the quota being in relation to the number of inhabitants or to the number of schools and students per country, we believe that the number of schools REALLY participating in easa should be relevant. cause it is not really logical to let, for example, a country with 147 millions and 47 schools to have the biggest quota when only 2 schools are participating in easa. just as its not logical to let former easa and incm organizers to have a lot more places than the future easa organizer, while the number of schools participating in easa is the same or even bigger (ireland 2 schools, russia 2, hungary 1). so we think that the model is wrong, community isn't equal to the numbers provided on posters on incm (which were pretty superficial and inaccurate). the fact that a country is big and has many schools doesn't say much about easa community in the certain country, there are many big countries that have only one school attending to easa (germany, france, spain...) and there are some small countries that have 2 or more. so, change something. community also has to do with the tradition of attendence, so it can not happen that for example the netherlands has the same quota as new countries liechtenstein or montenegro (whose starting quota should be not more than 4). we suggest to redistribute places, according to the excell files we had before and to take into consideration only the number of shools from each country that will attend easa. if not, then at least reconsider our quota and especially irish quota. just imagine how it is to motivate new and young people to organize easa or incm event without beeing able to attend (just remember that your last years quota without competition winners was 17, so its our and irish quota together). for the end we suggest, if we don't solve this now, to have it as an important topic at incm croatia. further more, this travelling exhibition event is new and we should add new activity points for holding the exhibition, because it's really a lot of work and it promotes easa really well, 2 activity points should do for holding the exhibition (slovenia 3;). well, this is it, sorry for a long post, but it was really necessary, love from ana and ivan full story...
Hey guys! This friday we are closing the exhibition in Ljubljana. The posters from Hungary have been added, and also a videomontage of movies. They still have to be lovingly packed, but... where are we shipping them to? It is reserved for Dublin in June, but there's still space in between for somebody else. Who wants? The exhibition clocks in at 93 posters, which translates to about 80 metres wall length to display - just so you know what you are dealing with. The only thing is that since we printed the hungary posters we don't exactly have much money left - in other words, we would be counting on the recipient to pay the shipping costs. If all else fails, there's a ryanair flight to Dublin from Pula, so maybe it can go directly there... And also, who wants it next after Ireland? Cheers, b. full story...
