You might want to check the new website-proposal: http://easa.x42.at

mail from jelk:

Dear Michael, Britta & Kasper, dear other NC's,

I am very pleased to read in your e-mails that you are working in such an ambitious way on both INCM and EASA2003. I, and with me Geert-Jan (other dutch NC), really appreciate your efforts. I am looking forward to see you all again, and I am sure the time and activities will be very inspiring and interesting, I also see this INCM as a great opportunity to visit Denmark.

However, I must say we are somehow surprised with the time you want to take for the INCM meeting. I understood in Vis, Croatia, that you had an ambitious approach towards this years INCM, but your proposal this will cause problems for me and Geert-Jan. We will NOT be able to spend so much time (a whole week!) to the INCM. Besides I think that if we meet one week in order to discuss a two week event that this is out of proportions.

I also foresee that more NC's will have difficulties to take a week off from school or work. I would like to point out that it might be easier to coordinate if you hold the meeting as short as possible (2-3 days, like in Berlin). If the problems I foresee will come true, there is a chance the first part of the NC's might come at the first half of the week while the second part will be there at the end of the week, while only a few will attend the whole INCM. I presumed you already understood this possible problem, but regarding the enclosed schedule you send us, you spread the program over the week. This is not good for EASA communication.

I would like to and consider it my task as dutch NC discuss with you about EASA and work with you on preparations for EASA's and SESAM's in 2003 and later, but I am not available for 8 days.

OTHER NC's, PLEASE REPLY: CAN YOU TAKE OFF ONE WEEK OF TIME FOR THE INCM? DANISH ORGANIZERS, PLEASE REPLY: IS THERE A WAY TO REDUCE INCM-TIME?

Ciao,

Jelk Kruk Dutch NC

stop the madness

EASA live event - sydney 14-15 novemer-WTO meeting

7,000,000 people are dying every year

millions world-wide are kept in crippling poverty millions are starving easily curable diseases are widespread

Millions world-wide are taking action

1999 1,500,000 people took to the streets of Berlin and danced
FOR tolerance, respect and understanding between nations.

30 November 1999, 50,000 passionate people took to the streets of Seattle for the first “anti-globalisation” protest they succeeded in shutting down the WTO meeting more and more people are taking action world-wide together

image 1 is a sebastio selgado pic of a big digger mowing dead people in zaire into a hole in the ground, complete disregard for the value of life led to this. the pic beside it shows people combating this through non violent artistic and FUN means

there will hoefully be an online experimental event, with this website acting as the nucleus, culminating with the main event on nov 14th and 15th which is the next WTO meeting that is happening in sydney, australia. it is hoped that people will organize events, feedback through here, email each other, send images back and forth, communicate.

with the compiled stuff an experimental film could be put together.

i hope EASA people will have the want to participate in this experiment and in so doing so show how technology can be used for further communication. it would be the first LIVE experimental event, and would strengthen the EASA community

what makes a great school of architecture

what makes a great school of architecture?

i have just started my graduate diploma in ark here in brookes college in oxford in the u.k.

so far i am loving it

what are the factors that make a good school?

  • enthusiastic and committed tutors
  • enthusiastic students who are on for doing things, who are there because they want to be there
  • a varied course structure which has many options to choose from
  • an openness to experimentation and exploration into new technology and work techniques
  • a place that tries to evolve with the times
  • a place that communicates to others outside its own surroundings

these are just a few things. I am trying to encourage you to participate in an open discussion about this, as at present there seems to be not too much to talk about on the EASA weblog. The virtual communication space for the architectural students of Europe.

So hopefully you might add something, what are your views, disagree if you want, just get communicating

Lack of real communication is the main problem in this world today
