bring all your ancient Easa data

Hee People, it has bin some time that I said something here but now it's time to do so :)) (first part of my diploma is finished)

First of all I am glad to read about the discussion around archiving/blogs/server space and support. I am working on an archive workshop together with a Bosnian guy Luka who can build a database structure. He will try to prepare this before Easa so we can focus on the design and processing of data. I think it is best to ask the organisers of previous easa's to bring digital and analog data to put into the database. Furthermore I hope the archive box we had in Moscow will appear again, I don't know where it went? The Greek organisers (as they said also on the blog) proposed to collect money for the project during this years Easa. Since this will be a long term project/workshop I strongly advise as well, like Jurrien said, to use 2% of the budget for maintenance in the next years. We will need a lot more serverspace I guess :))

See you all in Greece! Good luck digging for old Easa stuff!!!

-x- wouter

SUMMER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE: "A CITY FOR ALL"

SUMMER SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE: "A CITY FOR ALL"

The Faculty of Architecture, University SS. Cyril and Methodius, from Skopje, Macedonia organises a summer school for students in architecture. The summer school will take place in the monastery of St. Joachim Osogovski from July 07 - 15, 2007. The monastery is located near the town of Kriva Palanka in a beautiful mountainous setting. The session 2007 is entitled "A City for All" and will be headed by the famous Turkish architect Cengiz Bektas. In the workshop brief he writes: "Our towns, squares, streets and buildings were mostly planned for the healthy, able people. Disabled people, seniors, juniors, mothers with prams haven't been considered during the design process. However, they become more of an issue with every passing day. Unfortunately, most of these people cannot enjoy the streets, venues, parks as much as the rest of the population. High sidewalks in our streets, stairs in our buildings are creating obstacles for them. Every section of our society suffers the consequences. It is the social and ethical duty of urban planners, urban furniture designers and architects to examine the issue and design accordingly. At the 2007 Summer School, I am planning to debate these issues and use Kriva Palanka as a test case. Participants will experience all the difficulties mentioned above at firsthand and propose solutions." The subsidised participating fee of 50 euros covers accommodation and meals during the workshop. Participants are expected to cover their travel expenses to Skopje. For more information interested students should write to ssarch@arh.ukim.edu.mk

antville calls for support...

sorry, if some of you got the ad-picture before entering the easa-blog.

just to explain a little lets go back in history: 1768 days ago - that was thursday, 15th august, 2002 - right after i came back from my first easa, i wanted to keep this stunning easa-feeling a little longer. so i opened a weblog for all the people who met there on this little island in croatia called vis to keep contact.

it started with a very brief note, today we are counting 1094 stories and thousands of comments of 800 members.

we got 211'703 visitors and 583'937 pageviews to date, that makes 130/349 per day. to share information, interests and gossip about easa...

from my personal point of view it somehow keeps it all together during the year, til we all meet again.

and this all is for free! coded and hosted by some austrian guys like tobi.

i feel like there should be some money in the (tight, i know) easa-budget to give a little donation to keep servers (containing the blog and our 1251 images) running.

maybe we can manage somehow if i'm in greece or the organizers want to donate themselves...

(if the above-mentioned reasons are not enough, here are 10 more ;)
